Day 2 – Tuesday 09th September 2025: Excursion to Penrith via Lake Windermere

Your journey to Penrith is a visual treat, featuring a scenic drive along the serene shores of Lake Windermere. As you travel, the stunning lake views and rolling hills create a picturesque backdrop, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination. Once in Penrith, immerse yourself in the town's rich heritage with its blend of historical attractions and scenic beauty, Penrith offers a perfect day out in the Lake District, capturing the essence of Cumbria's allure.
Day 3 – Wednesday 10th September 2025: Excursion to Bowness-on-Windermere including Lake Cruise
Embark on a delightful day trip to Bowness-on-Windermere, a picturesque town set on the shores of the serene Lake Windermere. Start your visit by exploring Bowness's charming streets, where you'll find an array of boutique shops, cozy cafes, and traditional pubs. In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable cruise along Lake Windermere, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and charming lakeside villages. As you glide across the tranquil waters, the scenic beauty of rolling hills and lush woodlands unfolds before you. Day 4 – Thursday 11th September 2025: Excursion to Barrow-in-Furness and Optional Extra Visit to Holker Hall & Gardens (£20pp)
Today's adventure takes us to the charming coastal town of Barrow-in-Furness. Known for its maritime heritage and industrial past, Barrow offers a mix of history, culture and beautiful surroundings. Start your day with a visit to the iconic Furness Abbey, a stunning 12th-century ruin set in peaceful grounds, perfect for a quiet stroll and a bit of reflection. From there, head to The Dock Museum, where you can learn about the town's fascinating shipbuilding history or take a walk along the scenic Piel Island to see its historic castle and enjoy panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
For those who prefer a bit more indulgence in culture and beauty, an optional extra trip to Holker Hall & Gardens is available. Located just a short distance from Barrow, this stately home is surrounded by stunning gardens and parkland, with the chance to explore its historic room and exhibitions. If you prefer to continue your exploration of Barrow, enjoy a leisurely walk along the promenade at Roosebeck, before meeting back with the group to continue the journey back to the hotel.
