Day 2 – Tuesday 18th March 2025: Excursion to York
Today we make the short journey to the charming city of York, offering a full day of exploration and cultural experiences. Why not start with a visit to one of the largest and most magnificent Gothic Minsters in Northern Europe. Wander through the iconic medieval street known as The Shambles, lined with timber-framed shops, cafes, and boutiques. One of the best-preserved historic shopping streets in Europe, it's perfect for a stroll and some souvenir shopping. Maybe take a leisurely stroll along York’s ancient city walls, which offer lovely views of the city’s landmarks and surrounding countryside.
Day 3 – Wednesday 19th March 2025: Day at Leisure in Harrogate
A day at leisure in Harrogate offers a delightful mix of relaxation and exploration in one of England’s most charming towns. Start your day with a stroll through the picturesque Valley Gardens, a beautiful 17-acre park filled with historic buildings, floral displays, and peaceful walking paths. You could also explore the Harrogate Turkish Baths, a restored Victorian spa offering indulgent treatments and a unique bathing experience that harks back to the town's heritage as a famous spa destination. For a quintessential Harrogate experience, a visit to Bettys Tea Rooms is a must. Founded in 1919, this iconic establishment is renowned for its elegant afternoon tea. Enjoy a range of fine teas, freshly baked scones, and cakes in the elegant surroundings of this beloved tearoom, with views over the town.
Day 4 – Thursday 20th March 2025: Excursion to Skipton with Canal Cruise
Skipton, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Dales," offers a rich blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty, making it an ideal spot for all ages. Before hopping aboard your canal cruise, you’ll have some free time to explore Skipton’s quaint streets. You could visit Skipton Castle, a remarkably well-preserved medieval fortress that has stood for over 900 years. There are also independent shops and cafés to explore, giving you a feel for local life. Later, you'll embark on a canal cruise, which promises a relaxing ride along the canal with picturesque views of the Yorkshire countryside. The highlight of the cruise will be the savoury afternoon tea, a perfect blend of local flavours served while you drift along the water, making this a delightful way to end your day in Skipton. Skipton is a hidden gem that offers a mix of history, local charm, and scenic beauty.
Day 5 – Friday 21st March 2025: Farewell to Harrogate
As our wonderful holiday to Harrogate comes to an end, we'll begin our final day with a hearty breakfast before departing for our return journey back to Lincolnshire, taking with us cherished memories of our time together.
